The Nebula class starship first appeard in the TNG episode "The Wounded" as the U.S.S. Phoenix. This version had the saucer shaped upper sensor pod you see here. Obvously, the saucer section and necelles are made with parts from the Enterprise-D,but on close examination the secondary hull is shaped quite a bit differently than that of the Galaxy class ship. Notice the flattened upper edge of the navigational deflector and the way the reddish center of the dish juts out (yeah, the crappy vidcaps make it a bit hard to see...). I'm fairly sure that this is not a reworked Galaxy class hull (as some of the resin conversions would have you believe). I scanned the first picture from a Trek book, and the other five are vidaps I made from "The Wounded".

When the model next appeared in the TNG episode "Redemption", the sensor pod was replaced with the triangular shaped pod you see in these pictures. The saucer seems to be identical to the Galaxy saucer, except that the outer few rings of windows have been removed, and there are no breaks in the rim (impulse engines, dorsal connection). The first two pictures show the U.S.S. Sutherland from the TNG episode "Redemption". You can see in the third picture that the ILM modellers did an excellent job sprucing up the model to represent the Farragut in "Generations". You should also take a look at Mark Dickson's Nebula studio model pictures at Starship Modeler. These are some of the best photos of the model I've seen.
