Miranda class Starship
Miranda Class Starship

The Miranda class starship made it's first appearance in StarTrek II: Wrath of Khan as the U.S.S. Reliant. This was the first time that is was established that the Federation uses modular designs for their starships, the ship was built primarily from parts of the Enterprise-A (which was, of course, a cost saving measure during the production of the movie). This model has appeared almost as often as the Excelsior, and has been modified on several occasions to represent different ships. Some notable variations are the U.S.S. Lantrey (Reliant minus the "roll bar"), U.S.S. Saratoga (Reliant with some extra weapons pods), and the U.S.S. Bozeman.
The two pictures below link to my video captures from StarTrek II.

I scanned these from "The Art of Star Trek". It's rare to find front, bottom, and side view photographs of StarTrek studio models like these. You can see they put a lot of work into painting this model. The mottled panneling gives the ship much of it's character.

Soyuz Class Starship

The Soyuz class is really a Miranda variant, but for some reason the StarTrek producers saw fit to give it it's own class name. These pictures show the U.S.S. Bozeman, which collided with the Enterprise-D in the TNG episode "Cause and Effect", and are scanned from the StarTrek Chronolgy. A few modifications were made to the original Reliant model for this ship, including a new bridge module, a large shuttbay addition, and some funky sensor pods.
