This episode introduced a new Dominion/Cardassian defense satellite (see the first picture below, looks more Cardassian than Dominion to me). These satellites are essentially unmanned, automated orbital weapons platforms. Luckily for the Federation, the satellites were not yet activated when the fleet arrived. Desperate to keep the Federation armada from destroying the weapons platforms, the Jem'Hadar ships perform a number of Kamikaze assaults on Federation and Klingon ships.
